ON THE TRACK
Yes, PKT is an outdoor circuit and karting will not be cancelled if there is wet weather. Groups that book on the 18HP will be changed to the 13HP karts if rain occurs and the track surface is wet. 23HP Karts will not be run in wet weather or if track surface is wet.
Karting in the rain or on a wet track is not dangerous and is a great and fun experience. So please ensure that you make allowances for wet weather by bringing a change of clothes and wearing appropriate attire.
However, if the weather conditions are deemed to be dangerous, karting events will be stopped till the track supervisor finds it safe enough to return to the track. In extreme weather the track may be closed. We will not operate during dangerous or inclement weather conditions. No refunds will be given on the basis of wet weather, and cancellations or transfers of bookings cannot be requested on the basis of wet weather.
In the event that your karting event is postponed or cancelled due to extreme weather conditions which would make it dangerous or unsafe to kart, you will be contacted. Should karting need to be cancelled then your deposit will be transferred to your rescheduled date.
This will depend on the type of go kart you drive. Speeds range from 20km/h on the electric mini karts to our fastest go karts the 23HP RMAXs which can reach highway speeds of 110km/h.
Obey the marshals: Follow the instructions given by all track staff, especially when a flag or sign is shown
No bumping: Go karts are not bumper cars. Intentional contact with other racers or the barriers is prohibited and can lead to removal from the track
Stay in your kart: Do not exit your kart on the track unless directed by a marshal. If you have an issue, put your hand in the air to signal for help
Watch our safety video.
Green flag/light: The track is all clear to race.
Yellow flag/light: Slow down due to an incident on the track. No overtaking is allowed.
Red flag/light: The race has been stopped. Slow down and proceed with caution. You will be directed into the pits by a track marshal.
Blue flag: A faster driver is behind you and trying to overtake. You should move to the side to let them pass.
The racing line is the optimal path around the track to achieve the fastest lap time. It generally involves entering a corner wide, hitting the apex (the innermost point of the turn), and exiting wide.
Brake before a corner, not during it. This maintains momentum and avoids drifting, which slows you down.
Use smooth, controlled steering rather than jerky movements.
Look ahead to the next turn instead of just at the kart in front of you. This helps you anticipate and plan your next move
Shift your weight slightly to the outside of the kart when turning. Leaning inward can put too much weight on the inside wheels, making the kart unstable.
Go karts are driven by a solid axle. When you turn the inside rear wheel lifts of the track surface to allow no drag and the go kart to turn easier. This is due to the Ackerman steering system. Leaning slightly out will assist the wheel to stay of the surface during turning. Leaning in will fight the chassis causing kart bounce. The inside rear wheel lifting and dropping.
While it’s tempting, don’t focus on bumping or aggressively blocking other drivers. The fastest and safest way to overtake is by mastering the racing line and maintaining a smooth exit speed from corners.
