OUR MISSION STATEMENT
Our aim is to please and your satisfaction is our reward.
WHY WAS PKT CREATED?
The Picton Karting Track was setup to make motor sport accessible – to everyone. We firmly believe in the huge power of motor sport to thrill and inspire and see no reason why it should not be part of whether you’re a professional karter, leisurely karter or a rental karter, regardless of ability or background.
We also thoroughly believe that motor sport is the most engaging sport possible. It is something special that inspires and engages those who have had the chance to participate and it often rubs off in so many areas. We believe:
- that it is the only sport that combines sport, engineering and business in such a tight and compelling package
- that there are so many aspects to motor sport that can be used for the purpose of education.
- that motor sport develops a range of skills that are directly transferrable to driving on the roads, such as spatial awareness, looking ahead and anticipation.
- that people are safer road drivers when they have a feel for how vehicles handle on the limit in the context of emergency situations.
THE STORY BEHIND THE PICTON KARTING TRACK
It was back in the late 1990’s that the founders of the Picton Karting Track – brothers Anthony and Renzo Dal Pozzo began their interest in go karting. Working in the joinery trade in Wollongong for a couple of decades, eventually realizing they needed a change in their careers and with the recent move to the Wollondilly shire, it was then were they came up with the idea and recognised the need of a recreational centre in the South-West of Sydney that would be fun and affordable for most ages.
From humble beginnings It started with a scale model track from there the purchase of the land happened, then the designing and construction, with most of the work done by the two brothers that possessed the passion and sweat, blood and tears, ‘posseduto la passione e sudore , lacrime e sangue’. Indeed it was a mission to get the Track off the ground and developed to the stage that it is at now.
Finally the dream came a reality in January 2000, Picton Karting Track was opened to the public. Since then the Track has attract many locals, interstate and overseas customers as well as Business, Schools, Universities, Driver Training Schools, Kart Clubs, Car Clubs, Motor Cycle Training.
Awesome for our Learner Driver nephew
Our 16 year old nephew and his friend went karting around the track. It was great idea for him to gain confidence as a new Learner driver and learn to steer. Had lots of fun with his friend Jake, both of them loved it. The staff was wonderful, very helpful and reasonably priced.
Family Race day – Twice
During our week at Wollongong we went go karting twice. The first time was so much fun. With fantastic staff, excellent karts, and a really challenging track, we all had such a great time we went again 5 days later. Same again, great facilities, and staff, and again our 14 year old daughter beat us all. Go there, do it, you will love it.
I’m glad I went karting
I recently visited the Go Kart Track with my family and some friends, not wanting to do karting, I just wanted to sit down and watch. However I was glad that I was persuaded to kart it was so much fun and stimulating. I thought being as young as 59, karting was only for the boys…. hahaha certainly I have changed my opinion. We will return again.
